The Return of Ansolo

Pacha, NYC, October 9th, 2015. Guess who's back, back again? Me, at Pacha. Remember that place I said I'd never go to again? Yeah, well Ansel Elgort makes a riveting case. Ansolo was set to DJ Pacha again, this time specifically for 18+ (they decided I wasn't "too old" this time). I was really embarrassed to show my face there again, not like they would even remember me, but it was point of principle. I'm a very stubborn person who goes out of their way to stick to their word, and I felt like I was double crossing myself. On the flip side, I guess a professional picture with Ansel Elgort was worth the penalty.

Since we had meet & greet tickets, we had to get there for doors at 10:30pm even though Ansolo wasn't going on until midnight. Great. I wanted to be there for no more than my picture, I really didn't even care to stay for his set with the heathens. As usual the meet & greet was chaos because they couldn't decide if it was going to be group pictures or individual. Of course by some odd notion we were first to go so we got screwed on this. We decided it was what it was and that we would take a group picture...after all, we both got to get a piece of Ansel, right? After we hugged Ansel and got in position for the picture, we were surprised to see one of our friends didn't follow us and was standing afar signaling she wasn't coming. When we asked her what she was doing, she demanded she wanted her own picture. This got a chuckle out of Ansel and so of course he complied. After all, he low key knows her, he sees her often enough 😉 The rest of us were then shooed away too quickly to think fast and get our own individual pictures, but we were satisfied enough.

I was content with leaving because Ansolo wasn't DJing until another hour or so, but this was one of my friend’s first "club experience" and she was in it for the long haul. It wasn't quite as bad as I expected, but I will admit I felt too old to be there. Believe me, the club scene is my scene, but the club scene with under 21's is a different animal. The outfits and the raving and the people hanging from everywhere was just not my thing. I'll take table service at Lavo, thank you. It was fun though to see Ansel in a different element doing something else he loves so much. You could really see how much fun he was having, like it was what he always wanted to do and finally had a real platform for it. I had no choice but to close it down with Ansolo, so I put a smile on and danced as much as my body could handle at that point (I really just wanted to sit, we'd been standing around for hours and now you want me to dance in booties?!) When Ansolo's set ended at 2am it felt like the New Year's Eve ball drop, I couldn't be happier. I was out of there in a flash never to return, and truly so because Pacha is now indefinitely closed, R.I.P.
