Reputation Tour

Reputation Tour, MetLife Stadium, July 19th-21st, 2018. So nice had to do it thrice. One show for every year Taylor was gone. A different throwback song every night? I wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world (including a trip to Vegas I passed up and I LOVE Vegas). Plus the first night was on my birthday and I couldn’t possibly think of a better way to celebrate than with my fav.

Something was different about this tour. It was expected because of the change of music of course, but MetLife was flooded with outlandish costumes relating to Taylor Swift lyrics and this is something I had not seen before. Apparently I missed a memo because this was a “thing” that’s done on tour to get seat upgrades and meet & greets chosen by non-other than Andrea Swift, mother of God’s greatest gift to earth. Being the fangirl that I am and having never missed a tour, I’m not sure how this previously got by me, but I was here for it. It was too late for me to do anything about it on this tour, but it already had me planning for future ones. Funny to think that I could feel out of place somewhere that’s usually most like home. It made me feel like less of a superfan that I wasn’t in on this inside secret and certainly added pressure for next time, but I was more than up to the challenge. Everyone looked so cute in their pajamas inspired by “in the middle of the night, in my dreams” from “Are You Ready For It?”, the “Getaway Car”(‘s) and the “King(s) of My (our) Heart(s)”. I have to admit I was jealous in my romper, t-shirt dress, and T. Swift sweater that I wore each night, but now I know to do better.

I originally had tickets to two nights and then last second went for the third, and boy am I glad I did when she played “Enchanted”, one of my all-time favorite songs. Emotions ran even higher with the moody setting with the rain EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. Rain in July in New York is so uncommon, and it rained not only for all of our shows, but for quite a bunch of the Reputation Tour shows and Taylor cut not one of them short. She redefines what it means to be a performer with everything she does, and it beats me how she didn’t get sick but seeing how much all of this really means to her made the rain worth while. No matter what you went to that show looking like all cute in your T. Swift gear, we all left like drenched rats who had the time of our lives. Concerts, especially on that grand of a stage, already have an overwhelming sense of community, and after it had felt like we all went through something together, it was really something indescribable. Reputation, like all Taylor Swift albums, was very close to my heart because as always, it seems like we’re going through the same things together. She is a talent unlike any other, and I am excited for the next chapter when the phoenix emerges out of the flames back into a pastel pop princess.
