New York's Finest: A Cop, A Horse and Buggy Driver & A Hotdog Vendor

New York's Finest: A Cop, A Horse and Buggy Driver & A Hotdog Vendor

Trump Hotel, NYC, August 14th, 2008. After the Good Morning America incident, this whirlwind of a week was off to a bad start. But determination never leads to failure. If anything, our failure propelled our need to succeed even more. We weren't playing games anymore, all bets were off. We might not have had the bar at Good Morning America, but we sure as hell were gonna get it at the Trump Hotel. Every good fangirl knows what hotel her celebs are staying at (and the floor they're staying on at that).

Day in and day out while the Jonas Brothers were in New York, we would wait for them to emerge from the Trump Hotel based around their schedule for these two weeks while the Burnin' Up Tour was in the Tri-state area. We arrived to the Trump Hotel sometime after 5am, and for the first time ever, we secured the bar. We were elated, we knew this was it. What we didn't know was that it would be so much more. The sun came up, hours went by, and finally the paparazzi emerged out of the bushes. One paparazzo tried making friends with us, however I wasn't too fond of him because I felt like he was just trying to take our spot. He couldn't possibly know what he was talking about when he asked me, "So who do you think is the cop?" What on earth is he talking about? Does he even know who we're waiting for? He persistently told me, "One of them is a cop, one of them is a horse and buggy driver, and one of them is a hotdog vendor." At this point I just wanted him to go away.

Well I'll be damned. Joe Jonas just walked out of the Trump Hotel dressed as a cop. Is this real life? What is going on? For some reason unbeknownst to me, security picked me as the point person for the fans. A man the size of a linebacker made a beeline for me and said, "You go to the corner and cross the street. You do not run. If you try to run across the street, you see this guy? He'll throw down with you." I didn't even know how to react, because I was still so confused. Clearly something good was about to happen, to the point where the amazon girl behind me said to her friend, "Don't worry, we'll get in the front. I'll hit her if I have to." Is this girl serious? The hate between fangirls can get too real.

At this exact moment after waiting for hours and we just finally got a glimpse of a Jonas, my friend decided this was an appropriate time to have to go to the bathroom. I took one for the team and went with her to the Time Warner Center, until someone grabbed my arm and screamed, "Get in the shot!" When I didn't react, the production assistant continued to explain, "Keep walking back and forth across the street and pretend that's not Joe Jonas, pretend you have no idea who he is." We did one take and realized our other three friends would be so mad if they found out we were 12 feet away and got in the Jonas Brothers music video for the Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience. My friend took her phone out to call the others and someone screamed, "No cellphones!" Oh man, they were really gonna kill us now. We walked across the street a few more times, and I guess word caught wind because here were our friends about to get put in the video. We walked back and forth a few more times until it was time to move on the scene in Central Park.

I'm walking into Central Park and Joe Jonas' girlfriend Taylor Swift starts asking me about my day, but I can't pay attention because Nick Jonas is walking a few inches away from me - go away Taylor! (little did I know I'd be the biggest Taylor Swift fan ever) We watched Nick drive around the horse and buggy and Kevin make hotdogs for a few takes until we went back to the hotel to wait for them to try to get pictures. I passed up the opportunity to take pictures with Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez while they pulled up to the hotel, as at this time I was team Miley/Mandy, duh. This was confirmation that Nick and Selena were dating, girl bye. And at this time I thought Demi was just that annoying girl that followed the Jonas Brothers around until I realized she had killer pipes. 24 year old me hates 17 year old me right now.

For all the downfalls we had that week, we sure had a lot of highs. From sitting sixth row at Jones Beach, to being seated right next to the Jonas Brothers at TRL (which then lead to Nick inviting us to Virgin Megastore for the album release), to being in their music video for the movie, we had finally made it. In the wise words of Nick Jonas, "Live like you're at the bottom even if you're at the top."
