Say You'll Remember Me, Standing in a Nice Dress Staring at the Sunset

Nikon at Jones Beach Theater, Wantagh, New York, July 20th, 2013. It was the day after my 22nd birthday. I find it no coincidence that the boys are always in town around the 19th of July, it's always like a birthday present from God. It's hard to preserve your beauty when it's so hot outside it feels like your face is melting off. Every few minutes mirror checks were a must to ensure the humidity mixed with the ocean breeze didn't get the best of me. It was so hot that my favorite lipstick actually melted (and was discontinued thereafter R.I.P.). As usual I didn't even get to curl my hair due to the race against the clock, I felt like I was never my total package in these pictures.

The moment was now, and when Kevin Jonas asked me how I was doing, I replied, "Well, I'm spending my birthday with you, so I'm great!" They each wished me a happy birthday and told me they liked my dress. Of course they did, I bought it just for them πŸ˜‰ I impatiently awaited Adventures in Wonderland to email the meet & greet pictures as I was jet-setting to Vegas on the red eye the next morning. When I had been in Vegas for two days and it was exactly 72 hours since my meet & greet, I knew there was something wrong. The pictures take up to 72 hours to receive, but they usually came quicker.

Like clockwork, Adventures in Wonderland knew their time was up. After a long night of celebrating my boyfriend's 21st birthday, I received an email saying that the files were corrupt and the pictures were lost. I had two options: A. Retake the picture at any other show, or B. Get a partial refund. Obviously B. was not a sufficient option, however, how could I do A. when there wouldn't be any more tri-state area shows by the time I got back to New York?! Let me tell you something...big girls do cry, but big girls also always come up with a game plan. I did not want my money back, I wanted my picture! I was due to visit my father and grandfather in Florida, and the Jonas Brothers would be taking their tour down south a week after I would get back from Vegas.

It was set, I was scheduled to retake my picture at Perfect Vodka Amphitheater in West Palm Beach on August 2nd, 2013. This curse just became a blessing in that I'd get to see the boys again, and sooner than I could have ever anticipated! If you don't know, my mom owns a hair salon. The only terrifying thing about retaking my picture in Florida is that I wouldn't have access to my glam team. My bangs are blown out a very specific way, and often no one else can do it but my mom. When my dad took me to his friend's hair salon, it took a few attempts, but I got my bangs close enough to how they're supposed to look. I was satisfied enough, and in the biggest rush because I had the longest color gel manicure of my life for no reason. This time not only did I not get to curl my hair, I didn't even have time to do my makeup! I had to do my makeup in a moving car with the tiny drop down mirror. I was not happy. To make matters worse, it started raining and I had to wait outside.

I checked in with Adventures in Wonderland and I wasn't on the list. I had to explain I was retaking my picture from Jones Beach and I emailed saying I would come to this tour date. The concierge tried giving me a hard time until another concierge saved the day saying, "I remember you from your dress." My dress was the golden ticket for the night. While waiting on line for the meet & greet, I explained my story again to security and the other Adventures in Wonderland team members, and they all exclaimed the same thing, "I remember you from your dress." This had never happened before, but the third time was about to be a charm. When I started going over my spiel with the Jonas Brothers, they too said, "I know, I remember you from your dress!" CONFIRMATION. What I worked for all these years was confirmation. Confirmation that they remembered me. ME! At that point I didn't know what to say because that said it all. What had seemed like the most cruel joke turned into one of the best experiences of my fangirl career. Remember that high I'm always chasing? This put it on level πŸ’―
