Strip That Down for Jingle Ball

Macy’s Herald Square, NYC, October 10th, 2017. As a loyal JoBro hoe, I didn’t jump ship to become a Directioner. Don’t get me wrong, the next boy band heir that took over the throne made nothing but BOPS and I’m just as sad as any of the teenyboppers to see them go. I know how it feels to grow up with this part of your life that you hold so dear and have it ripped away from you. More to my surprise that mine disbanded considering they’re family and you can’t really break up with your brothers…which is why they’re back (EEK!), but we’ll save that excitement for another entry. I never pass up an opportunity to meet someone if I’m available and they’re of any remote interest, especially if it entails a chance of getting tickets to the coveted Z100’s Jingle Ball which I knew was about to be a stellar lineup for me with the highly anticipated return of Taylor Swift after THREE years. Once the Z100 Elvis Duran and the Morning Show cast announced her name that was literally all I needed to hear. Not to mention another one of my top 5 The Chainsmokers along with queen Demi Lovato, punk princess Halsey, the ever romantic Ed Sheeran, pop genius Charlie Puth, the only Harmonizer that matters Camila Cabello, Irish cutie 1D alum Niall Horan, everyone’s best friend Julia Michaels, soul singer Sam Smith, emo royalty Fall Out Boy, lyrical mastermind Logic, the next generation’s boy band Why Don’t We and of course the lineup announcer and 1D dadbod hottie, Liam Payne.

Good thing Jingle Ball is right around Christmas, it always makes for the best present ever. That weekend on the way to pumpkin picking I had Z100 on in the car. The dial up sound played, it was time to call in for your chance to win Jingle Ball tickets. Should we bother? What else are we doing anyway stuck in the car? 4 people call, one wins. We think it’s a joke. We’re getting mad because it better not be a joke. It plays on the radio, it wasn’t a joke at all. I have Jingle Ball tickets before they’re even on sale. This could either be a good thing or bad thing because Z100 gives away the best seats in the house, the worst seats in the house, and everything in between and I NEEDED the best seats to see Taylor Swift for the first time in years. I wouldn’t know until I picked the tickets up the day of the show on December 8th, but at least the stress of getting tickets didn’t have to be a thing not even for a second. I’ve been going to Jingle Ball since 2003 and nothing like this has ever happened. I’ve gone to the pre-show trying to get anything I could tickets, meet & greets, prizes, you name it and nada.

Madison Square Garden, NYC, December 8th, 2017. 2 rows from the top. 2 ROWS FROM THE TOP. Why would they even give these seats?! You should be paid to sit up here! Turns out I wasn’t as lucky as others I’ve known that won in the past, but it was free and we’re here right? It was an interesting view, and an even more interesting crowd when it’s not as enticing to dance that high up, but nothing was stopping me once Tay Tay came on. Much to no one’s surprise, I think that was the general consensus up there. Jingle Ball just turned into the Reputation tour preview and everyone was LIVING for it. I was “Ready For It”, all of it, the bad girl persona, the dark glamorous energy, the snakes. This new Taylor was the next chapter of my life. I could’ve been sitting outside and it would’ve been just as much of a party because there really is no performer on this planet like her. “Imma let you finish but” sorry B, Taylor is the real queen and she always was.
